What happens with your data here.

The short version

When you join the email list I keep two things: your first name and your email address. I use them to send you the emails you signed up for. That is the whole story. I don't sell your data, I don't run ads, and I don't track you around the web.

What I collect, and why

  • The email list. Your first name and email address, given by you on the signup form, used only to send the list emails. The legal ground is your consent, and you give it twice: once on the form, once by clicking the confirmation email. Without that click, no emails come.
  • Replies and messages. If you email me or reply to a list email, I keep the conversation to answer you and to remember what we discussed (my legitimate interest, in GDPR terms). Old mail gets deleted once it no longer serves a purpose.
  • Technical data. Cloudflare, which hosts and protects this site, briefly processes technical details like your IP address to serve pages and block abuse. That runs on my legitimate interest in keeping the site online and safe. No profile of you gets built from it.

The services I use

A short list, each with one job:

  • MailerLite (EU) stores the email list and sends the emails.
  • Cloudflare hosts the site, filters bots, and counts visits without cookies and without following you to other sites.
  • Zoho runs the mailbox, so email conversations live there.

These companies process data on my behalf under their own privacy commitments. None of them may use your email for anything of their own. The site's typefaces are hosted here, on the site itself, so no font service sees you visit.

Cloudflare is an American company, so some technical data crosses to the United States. It is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, the agreement that holds it to European privacy standards there.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set one short-lived security cookie to tell people from bots. There is nothing to accept, so there is no banner.

How long I keep it

Your name and email stay on the list until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately. Signups that never click the confirmation email never become active. Want everything erased? One email and it's gone.

Children

This site and the list are meant for adults. I don't knowingly keep data on anyone under sixteen, and if I find any, I delete it.

Your rights

Under EU law (the GDPR) you can ask me at any time to show you the data I hold on you, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a portable format, limit what I do with it, or stop using it. Consent you gave, you can take back whenever you want; unsubscribing is exactly that. One email to [email protected] is enough. And if you feel I've handled your data badly, you can complain to the Dutch regulator, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
